Gallagher South Africa's History

Gallagher’s original routes started from Maurice Williamson’s association with Graeme Pope Ellis of Poldenvale.

Gallagher New Zealand acquired the company and with the help of some of the original Gallagher dealers like John Swart in Cape Town, Malcolm Warrick in Durban, and with Stewart McLeroth in Zululand, the company started getting traction.  When Gallagher purchased Cardax with its own access control system this was also a major milestone in the company's development.

The first senior manager from New Zealand, Mr Steve Aldrige, hired Mr Birger Kirsten and they in turn hired Mike Foley as the General Manager before Mr Kirsten transferred to New Zealand.

Two products led to substantial growth of the South African business, namely the MBX series for wildlife and the G210 in the prison sector.  This resulted in Mike Foley becoming a shareholder in 2006 with the new local team.  The local South African team has achieved a 20x growth in the period since Mike Foley joined the company.  This has contributed to Morne Grobler being promoted to Group Operating Officer and leading both the agricultural and security divisions.  In April 2017, Iso Lika Nkulunkulu acquired 57% of Gallagher South Africa.  The new owners are Nomhle Canca, Thero Setiloane and Mike Foley.  Iso Lika Nkulunkulu loosely translates to ‘The Eye of God’ as the new focus is to expand the business throughout Africa we can proudly say we now export to 25 African countries.
